Man has always been curious to discover and invent new things. This quest has led to the discovery of the electrical energy. The entire world now depends on electrical energy to survive. The main drawback of this source is that it is fast depleting and also causes environmental degradation.

The water energy can be harnessed by means of dams and reservoirs. They are allowed to either fall from a height or are made to flow as river which rotates the blades of the turbines thereby generating electricity. Water accounts for a major part of the surface and hence is a non depleting source of energy. This method is quite safe to the environment as it does not affect the atmosphere. On the other hand, it destroys aquatic life in that area.

The wind energy is tapped by means of windmills where the turbines are rotated by the blades thereby producing electricity. Wind energy can be used for making portable electricity generators.

Nuclear fission produces enormous heat when a Uranium core is split to form neutrons which instead split few more Uranium nuclei thereby forming a chain reaction. The rate of splitting can be controlled. The heat is used to convert water to steam. The steam is then used to turn turbines and generate electricity. This method is however unsafe in places where things go out of hand.

Bio fuels can also be used for generating electricity. The bio waste can be burnt to heat water and generate steam which can instead be used to generate electricity by means of turbines.
